Raised by a family of wolves since birth, Mowgli (Neel Sethi) must leave the only home he's ever known when the fearsome tiger Shere Khan (Idris Elba) unleashes his mighty roar. Guided by a no-nonsense panther (Ben Kingsley) and a free-spirited bear (Bill Murray), the young boy meets an array of jungle animals, including a slithery python and a smooth-talking ape. Along the way, Mowgli learns valuable life lessons as his epic journey of self-discovery leads to fun and adventure.

Marketing
On July 9, 2013, Walt Disney Pictures announced that a live-action adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's short story collection The Jungle Book was in development, with Justin Marks set to write the script. In August, the director (Favreau) took to the stage at a Disney fan convention in Anaheim, Calif., and showed sneak-peek footage from his film.

This was the first marketing stunt for “The Jungle Book,” which cost roughly $175 million to make.

By going to happy, peppy Disneyphiles first, Disney ensured that the movie’s initial blast on social media would be a positive one. The first trailer was released on 15 September 2015, reaching over 14 million views on Youtube (see below). The next trailer was released on 8 February 2016, reaching over 5 million views.

Box Office
The film became a huge financial success. It briefly held the record for the biggest remake of all time until the studio's own Beauty and the Beast surpassed it the following year. It grossed $364 million in the United States and Canada and $602.5 million in other countries for a worldwide total of $966.6 million, against a budget of $175 million.
